...in the shop now...knits from patty young & michael miller

Most of you probably already know that Michael Miller just released a line of knit fabric!  Many of them are in-house designs, but a few of the prints feature designs from previous Patty Young lines (although I think she is getting credit for the whole line! :) 

For those of you who don't know much about knits, here are some details.  Officially called cotton interlock, knit fabrics are soft, comfortable and (somewhat) stretchy - think t-shirts and leggings.  Knits are also prone to a decent amount of shrinking.  Per MM, you can expect up to 20% in shrinkage, so make sure you buy enough (MM suggests 1/4 - 1/2 yard beyond what you need) and wash before cutting!  And don't worry about ending up with a lot of extra fabric, you can always use the scraps to make hair scrunchies, headbands and lots of other things!  Feel free to share your ideas in the comments for all to see - we love to read about your projects or recommendations!

By the way, keep in mind that the knits are 58/60" wide, not your standard 44/45" so make sure you take that into account when you're placing your order!

...vacation announcement...

We have the opportunity to spend Father's Day with my dad (& mom!) for the first time in 3 years...and we're going to take it!  So we'll be away from the shop from 6/17 - 6/22, but it will remain open like usual.  All orders placed by midnight (PST) will ship before we leave on 6/17.  All orders placed after that will ship on 6/23.

As a thank you for your patience while we're away, all regular-priced items will be 10% off!  (If it's not in the clearance section, it's 10% off!)  If you purchase regular listings, we'll issue you a refund upon our return.  If you request a custom listing, the discount will be factored in.  But remember, the purchase must be made between 6/17 - 6/22!

Although we'll be open during this time, we won't be returning convos at our normal speed (dad hates it when we're on our laptops!) so please be patient and we will reply as we have time :)

...fun fabric friday...hop dot by heather bailey...

This week's Fun Fabric is Hop Dot in Sky from Heather Bailey's Nicey Jane collection.  We love it so much because it has such a retro flair to it.  When we see that little design, we immediately think of the 50's...which makes us think of malt shops and poodle skirts and beach parties.  What's more fun than a print that can conjure up such happy and fun images?!

And to make it a little more fun, we're putting Hop Dot on sale for $6.50/yd today and tomorrow only!

There are so many great new lines due out this summer and a few of them have already started coming in.  Gypsy, Nest and Playdate are all in stock and ready for purchase!  Throughout the summer we'll be having several giveaways as we receive new collections.  Our first giveaway is focused on Felicity Miller's Gypsy.  We're offering a free yard of Gypsy fabric (your choice!) to a randomly selected winner.  It's simple to enter - just take a look at the Gypsy prints we offer, come back here and leave a comment telling us which print is your favorite or what you envision making with it.  If I were entering, I would say...

Music in Red is my favorite print out of this collection and I'm thinking about making a folding fireplace screen with it.  (We live in San Diego...we don't use our fireplace, so it's ok to have fabric in front of it :)

It's here, it's here!  The much-anticipated new line from Patty Young, Playdate, is filled with wonderful bright colors and designs, plus that oh-so-cute Potty Girls Rag Doll panel that comes with 3 dolly cut-outs and instructions on how to assemble.  Lanterns, stripes and those adorable goldfish are all waiting for you!
