...customer creations...for a charity event

I have the privilege of helping to get the word out about a charity event coming up soon for the Child Advocacy Center of Lehigh County in Allentown, PA. One of my customers, Gina, is donating her time and amazing sewing skills for the 7th Annual Women of the Child Advocacy Center Luncheon and Shopping Salon. According to Gina, "The event provides the opportunity to raise funds and awareness about the issue of child abuse, and the role of the Advocacy Center providing healing and justice for child victims. The primary mission of this event is to fund the position of a Child Interview Specialist, whose work is critical in tempering the trauma experienced by children during the investigation process."

Gina has made a fabulous crib set using fabrics from Amy Butler's Nigella collection to be included in the sale. This set is amazing...check out these pictures!

Gina also made several other items including toddler clothes, mother/daughter aprons, infant items and much more. These are a sampling of the many items she has made for the event. Adorable!

The event takes place on October 9, 2009 at Lehigh Valley Country Club. If you're interested in learning more about this event, you can contact Paula Bomboy through www.caclc.org. You'll find these, and many other fabulous items for sale where a portion of the proceeds go to the Advocacy Center - now that's feel-good shopping!

...in the shop now...mill house inn pre-cuts

My shipment of Mill House Inn pre-cuts finally arrived! Fig Tree & Co.'s newest fabric line has arrived in all its pre-cut glory (with yardage to be arriving in shops soon). I was able to get my hands on some Charm Packs, Honey Buns, Jelly Rolls and 1 Fat Quarter Bundle. That's right, only 1! I haven't listed it yet, but if you want it right now, let me know. I also have available a newer Fig Tree quilt pattern called French Kiss, which uses simple diamond blocks - no templates, specialty rulers or "Y" seam. The pattern calls for one Charm Pack and one Honey Bun, among other fabrics (background, border, backing, etc.) So I put together a little set including pattern, Charm Pack and Honey Bun at a discounted price (10% off individual prices) to help you get started with this lovely quilt.

The set is already listed in the shop, with individual pre-cut listings to come. Go take a look!

...new bundle available...laura gunn lantern bloom

I was suddenly inspired over the weekend to make some new bundles available in the shop. For most lines, I make some type of bundle available, whether a bundle of the entire line or one with all the fabrics in a specific colorway. In looking through my inventory, I realized I never did that for Laura Gunn's Lantern Bloom collection. Because of it's popularity at the time, I was never able to receive the whole line and I have since sold out of one of the prints, but the 9 remaining prints I have in stock work really well together.

Can you imagine a quilt in these amazing fabrics? Or a pillow cover with a different print on each side...or even a patchwork pillow? Or frame them to make them look like the paintings they started out as!

I've got a couple more bundles to introduce later, but for now I'll let you drool over these fabulous prints!

...in the shop now...girly girl by patricia bravo

Patricia Bravo's newest line, called Girly Girl, is in the shop now! This line is full of fun girly designs and colors. Patricia has broken up the line into two colorways - Sweet Girl featuring pretty pastel colors, and Cool Girl featuring brighter colors. I have to say, as someone who is not a girly girl, I love this line! While filling an order for the Golden Garden print, I fell in love with it. The flowers are so pretty and the colors blend together so nicely. And check out Sun-kissed Bouquet...doesn't it remind you of a print by another well-loved designer? Take a look and let me know what you think...which one is your favorite?

I have to say that these swatches (courtesy of Patricia Bravo's site) don't do the fabric justice. I know you'll love the fabric even more once you see it in person! ...customer creations...GraceyBags

I'm excited to showcase an adorable clutch made by the ever-sweet Becky of GraceyBags on Etsy. This style is called the Kelsey clutch and is made from a beautiful, recently-discontinued floral print from StudioE. (Hint: that means you'll probably never run into anyone else with the same purse!) As described in the listing:

"The Kelsey clutch has crisp, clean pleats and a fold over closure. Perfect on its own, or use with your large bag to keep those small essentials in quick reach."

Fully interfaced, with a magnet closure (my favorite kind!), it is also treated with a protective spray! Becky has thought of everything!

Head over to GraceyBags and check out this clutch, along with many others. I also recommend you check out her
blog too for some great pictures of custom bags. Oh, did I not mention that? Yes, Becky does custom clutches too! In fact, she loves custom orders, especially those of the bridal variety. Opt for classic, satin clutches, or go fun and funky with today's contemporary cotton prints...they're perfect for bridesmaid gifts! You can even get them monogrammed!

And if you want to get updates and sneak peeks at what's happening at GraceyBags, become a fan of the new Facebook
page...I already have!

FYI, this particular bag already has a couple of "hearts" so you better grab it quick before someone else gets it!

Happy shopping!

...in the shop now...hushabye by tula pink

New in the shop are a select group of Hushabye fabrics. Hushabye is Tula Pink's newest collection for Moda. Since I only recently set up an account with Moda, much of this line was already sold out by the time I was able to order. But I was able to secure a great group of aqua and brown prints! I love this color combination...soft, yet not so girly, making it a great combo for both guys and gals. Since this line is geared towards babies, I thought the brown and aqua would be a great unisex option. Plus there isn't a ton out there for the boys, so I wanted to carry something that would work for all of you with baby boys to sew for! Check out these lovely fabrics and let me know what you think...don't forget to look for the hidden in plain sight animals!

Droplets in Ivory Aqua

Butterfly Lace in Aqua

Owl Stripe in Aqua

Circus Dot in Ivory Aqua

Bunny Damask in Aqua

Owl Stripe in Brown

Ducky Dot in Brown

Oh, and I also have this great quilt pattern available too. I love this pattern! It's the one that got me interested in learning how to quilt!

Check out these sweet fabrics! See you in the shop!

...fun fabric friday...ducky dot by tula pink

This friday's fun fabric is from Tula Pink's brand new collection for Moda called Hushabye. This collection features soft colors and adorable animal designs. Meant to blend in with the general design of the print, but also to be noticed, it's kind of like a game to figure out which animal is in the print. How fun is that?!

The Ducky Dot print comes in fun colors too, including cheery aqua and soft brown...which are perfect for both baby girls and boys. Check out this cute ducky print, along with other aqua and brown prints in this line available in the shop now.
