...fun fabric friday...floral in brown by studioE

I realize that I haven't been very consistent with my Fun Fabric Friday posts, but I'm going to try to be better about it! It shouldn't be hard considering all the great new fabrics that we'll be stocking over the next few weeks. Today, I'm going to revisit an oldie but goodie. StudioE's Flourish line was a huge hit over the summer. I had to make several re-orders over the course of one week - one of which was made with spotty cell-phone reception on the Oregon coast while on vacation! One of those re-orders was just for this specific print, but I was told it was being reprinted and I could expect to receive it in September. Well, I just got it a couple weeks ago. Better (way) late than never, right?

So why is it so fun? Because it's bright, yet grounded by the brown background. It has a wide array of beautiful colors - oranges, greens, aquas. It has fun floral and foliage designs - swirling leaves, dainty branches, pom pom flowers. And it goes perfectly with just about every other print in the Flourish collection, whether by small design elements pulled out to make repeating prints (Chain, Petals, Pom Pom) or just by color (Zig Zag, Medallion Mono, Beads).

And maybe the delay in delivery wasn't so bad because these fabrics are perfect for Fall! So head over to the shop and check out all the available Flourish prints! But hurry, some of the coordinating prints are running low.

Have you seen Patty Young's new pattern collection, including the Ava, Julia, Nina and Isabel? Check out these covers and tell me these patterns aren't adorable. I love that Patty gives you different options for each pattern and that most can be adapted to either cool or warm weather. Add a long sleeve shirt under Isabel or a pair of tights with Julia and you've got an outfit fit for cool weather. And the instructions are fantastic - 12 full-color pages of directions with pictures to help guide you. As one customer said, "You get a lot more for your money with Patty's patterns than you do with most other boutique patterns."

Also available are Sophie and Sydney patterns, named after Patty's own daughters!

...in the shop now...riley blake designs - bloom & grow

Bloom & Grow is My Mind's Eye follow up to the Just Dreamy and Be Merry lines for Riley Blake Designs. I have to say that Bloom & Grow is my favorite (to date!) all the Riley Blake lines. This collection features fun and funky colors and designs. The centerpiece fabrics have an array of amazing colors and are chalk full of flowers and birds. Yes, those are cleverly disguised birds "blooming" from the leaves! One of the great things about this collection is that all the colors go so well together even though there are three different colorways (pink, blue and brown). In the shop, there are 6 available prints from the blue and pink colorways and if you guys love them, then I might order more!

I have to admit that the credit to choosing this great selection of prints should go to my 9 year old niece. In preparation of moving into a new house, she was allowed to pick the fabrics of her choice for her room makeover, which comes complete with bedding, pillows and curtains. After seeing Bloom & Grow on Riley Blake's website, these are the prints she told me to order! She did a great job choosing and coordinating - she definitely got her ability to choose great textiles from her mom (Rachel of Mamma Made Designs)! My guess is Rachel will blog about the room makeover, so keep an eye on her blog! I can't wait to see how these fabrics (and a little bit of paint) transform what was once a boy's room, into a sweet, funky girl's room!
